- Those that don't train in aikido don't get it. Yes it's a sword and we are no longer samurai but the same principals apply with and without a sword. You'll never get it. Right, there is some bad and some good here. Not worth going into, I'll just say it's better than a lot of the aikido I see on youtube. The ken appears to be lightweight, like it would break if it made contact with another ken. There's also no ki in the sword cuts so some may view them poorly but there is a lot of good movement here. I'll stop now.

Why is the guy with the sword allways trying to miss and allways lose ? I feel like it's a bit useless when you exactly know that everytime the guy with the sword loses. Or was it just to show others how to win against a sword without one ?
Would be nice if someone can explain :)

- Criminals attack their victims with an assortment of weapons, not just swords and guns. Fists, hands, feet, knives, sticks, canes, baseball bats, steel rods and other assorted weapons of opportunity. As a senior citizen who does not have these Aikido skills and who doesn't want to attack anyone, what I see in this video, in real life would go a long way to helping an intended victim of physical violence, first defend themselves, then disable their attacker. A life saver! An eye opening demonstration, especially for an older person like me! Thank you for the fine video demonstration.

- The attacker is holding back a little. But that does not make this invalid. With no helmets or padding how could they not?
If somebody pulls a gun on you and they want to kill you then they most probably will. But that is not a reason to not bother practising gun defences.
Also, from a self-defence point of view, (as opposed to a koryu point-of view), you are far more likely to be attacked by an idiot waving a Battle Orders movie replica than a skilled swordsmen with a shinken.
- I'd like to add that there are not many people, especially in modern society, who are capable of perceiving this other than mentally, or philosophically. When I say that masters perceived the way of peace via battle, it is because they battled that they found the way. It is said that the way cannot be truly seen unless experienced through a life and death scenario. I'm not sure if martial arts schools ever offered that kind of service to their students.
- It is not a delusion but a higher level of perception passed down by masters who survived the futility of battle.
