- Sgt. could fight all day with a single magazine of ammo
- This classic episode of  Combat, Has guest star John Cassavettes  as Kalb in this gripping story . 2 years later Mr. Cassavettes would later co-star in a WWII classic blockbuster The Dirty Dozen
- They sure used interesting patrol techniques back then.  Talk loud, stay close together, and no over watch.  The soldiers in Combat must have been National Guard.
- i like vic morrow..attackkkkkk!!!!
- Great Show ! This Bring so many memories, I begin to watch this Show by 1971 was hooked instantly and from then on I always programs or Movies that got to do with War.
- John Cassevetes was a great actor.
- Thats Check Mate- I should have just stayed silent!
- Oh thats King Two
- Check make Queen Two - This is White rook-over
- tag em and bag em!…kill em all!
- "Don't believe the scuttlebut, Fleming, only what you can see, and even then, look twice" - This reminds me of the John Kerry campaign for president, ... there was a group of ex-Vietnam-veterans spreading scuttlebut that Kerry had "S.I.W.ed" in order to get a combat medal. Oh well, ... that campaign is over.
- Truck at the end not German, 1933-35 REO speedwagon heavy truck.
- The endless knowledge of combat, and the pay attention and life is gone, very intense.
- among the best shows ever
- I was a Vic Morrow fan, all the way from Blackboard Jungle on through all the Combat episodes... That was a heck of a thing, who would think acting in a movie could be so dangerous.
- S.I.W. was not as common as some below indicate.  There was a sense of protecting your partner, your squad that kept these incidents to a minimum.  No matter how bad the fighting became, my resident expert said, SIW was rare.
- What none of you has the benefit(if you want to see it this way) of is you were neither in WWII, nor raised by someone who was.  I watched these Combat! episodes first run, and had the luxury of my dad(Sgt. 1st Class) to provide constant technical critique during each of the episodes.  We didn't miss them.
He always said (dad's been gone for several years now) this showed the real life of an infantry squad.  From weapons down to the clean socks the stars so often insist upon carrying on about, it's as real as it ever got, whether in the European or Pacific Theaters of combat. The day to day conflict within the squad and with the enemy was never more real on TV or in movies.  Combat! was reality to WWII vets.
- S.I.W. that's it.
"Self inflicted wound"
- A small % of soldiers shot themselves in the leg or the foot to get sent home. Some did it just to get out of duty. There was a term for this, but I cannot remember what it was?!
- This was a great show.
