- The biggest indicator of it not being strict aikido for the guy in the black was an Aikido 101: closed fists. No where in the discipline has closed fists for a basic stance. It more so resembled shoot fighting or possibly aikijujitsu.
- When you use something useless like Aikido, you get wrecked. Aikido is just watered down Jujutsu only useful against other skirt wearing cheese eating hippie asshats who thinks they have t3h d34dly i.e. other Aikidokas.

- before training in kali/silat i was an aikido student, i achieved the 1st dan blackbelt and i understood many things, first let's be honest, aikido in the abstract form (kata) simply won't work in a real self defence situation, must be applied in a less "gently way" maybe combinated with some percussions, of course the ideas/principles wich leads to the techniques are very effective.Second thing is that aikido is simply not designed for a competition in the ring, the distances are different, the attitude is different...same is for kali/silat/karate/kung fu and others martial arts, if you want to compete in a ring, train in some fighting sports. If you are an aikido blackbelt and want to fight in a ring with an mma fighter, without knowing any boxing or wrestling, you will get your ass kicked for sure, and you deserve it, because you have understood nothing of what are you studying. So where is aikido? there, but was useless in that ring so you can't see it.
- why there is no aikido in mma? if you step into a ring you do sports and then you will use more jiu jitsu style technics cause jiu jiutsu is easier to learn and to use. aikido is very, very close to jiu jitsu - only difference is that aikido tries to finish the fight even faster with superior technic. and thats the hard part of aikido to master and only a few people will ever master it.
