Dyskusja o 2 Ways To Counter The Jab Cross Combo | Taekwondo Kickboxing 101

- Something to remember... Only beginners throw a jab/cross and just stand there. You try this against a more experienced fighter and he will already have pivoted out of the way, thereby leaving you in a very compromising position, or already be throwing another strike, which will have you out of position and/or ineffective, or already have his arms on you for a takedown.

In my opinion, the spinning back-fist is a bit better option than the kick though (as you are a planted on the ground and less likely to land on your ass if the technique doesn't work).

My advice: try to avoid techniques that expose your back to your opponent. Yes, sometimes they work (and look great when they do), but generally speaking, they stop you from actually seeing what your opponent is doing for a split second which can be very dangerous. They can also land you in a world of hurt. Nonetheless, sometimes being a bit un-orthodox and taking bigger risks can pay off. End of the day it's a high risk gamble. Use them with care.
- I have a silly question, I have an odd tendency when I do a back kick to have my body horizontal to my kick. But when I try to do a jumping back kick, I fail and make a sloppy landing, or fail jumping high enough to get my preferred ankle to the gut landing. Would a normal back kick work as well instead of the jumping back kick?
- and fyi, that's a jumping back thrust. And u really want an MMA fighter to learn a 1st kyu move via a vid when they cant even make a perfect side kick? Thats pure risky and irresponsible.
- sry but the truth is Taekwondo wont work in MMA. Not against professional mma fighters at least.
- You and Shane are cool
- a question on how long took you to stretch the entire foot to kick higher?
- Great Tutorial! Expected a right roundkick to the body as one of the counters in this video. :)
- I got knocked out using ur technique.  Thanks
- Check out the video in my channel for more effective counters to jab & cross combos.
- Fancy moves. This tutorial doesn't really work for beginners and intermediate level. I rather do a spinning back kick than a jump spinning back unless im aiming for the chin. Same for the spinning backfist, too advanced and too risky. There are way more practical and safer counters. Anderson Silva's striking combos for mma for example.
- reply to segnik chanda: kwonkicker have already covered it in his basic shin and instep conditioning tutorial. that video talk about not just shin and instep but also knuckle. see that.
- Can u make a video covering different ways to slip a punch an counter with another punch? Preferably a basic counter from more of a boxing stand point.
- Kwonkicker, what degree black belt are you in Taekwondo?
- Hey, I know is a little bit specific but it would be really cool if you could break down that side kick to hook kick combo that Raymond "The Real Deal" Daniels used on Damion Caldwell on WCL, thanks in advance mate, your videos are great!
WCL - Raymond "The Real Deal" Daniels vs Damion Caldwell Its in 0:25.

- I want to spar with this dude so bad
- Thank you Shane, your training videos are awesome!!
- You should fight in UFC
- nice vid! good job guys
- One of my favourite moves, people see it as a flashy move but it takes some amount of skill to pull this move off sweetly.
